For me, the ocean is a strong magnetic force, with the power to both attract and repel. I'm drawn to the ocean, yet I don't swim in it.
This work is about my personal relationship with the ocean and my memories, dreams and fears about it. I'm compelled to create order and simplicity. By creating diptychs and triptychs, I'm attempting to harness the ocean’s vastness – compartmentalizing and giving it boundaries but at the same time creating gaps and altering the vista to express tension.
The meeting of the sea and land, and the sea and sky, and it's ever-shifting moods provide constant inspiration for my artwork.
