about these prints
The process I used for this work is Polaroid emulsion transfer. I started working with this medium in 1996 and immediately embraced it.
A two-step creative endeavor, I first photograph the seascape with a vintage Polaroid Land camera and allow options for combining prints. The second step entails assembling and transferring these images. By soaking the Polaroid print in hot water, I can remove the very fragile emulsion from it original backing. I then meticulously transfer the delicate emulsion to watercolor paper. Merging more than one print gives me the ability to create an altered reality.
Due to the nature of this process each print is unique. Please note because Polaroid film is no longer manufactured, I have only a few emulsion transfer prints still available.
